We are seeking an experienced and dedicated First Aider to join our school team on a full-time, fixed-term basis until the end of the academic year. This is a vital role supporting the health and wellbeing of our pupils, with a particular focus on monitoring and caring for students with diabetes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid support to pupils and staff in line with school policies
- Closely monitor pupils with diabetes throughout the school day
- Administer medication, including insulin, in accordance with care plans and medical guidance
- Maintain accurate records of medical interventions and incidents
- Liaise with parents, healthcare professionals, and school staff regarding pupil health needs
- Ensure medical supplies are well-stocked and stored safely
- Promote a safe and healthy school environment
Essential Requirements:
- Valid First Aid qualification (e.g. First Aid at Work or equivalent)
- Proven experience supporting individuals with diabetes (including blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration)
- Confidence in administering medication and following care plans
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a school or with children
- Additional healthcare or medical training
