About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Chesterfield. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning programmes.
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupil outcomes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable.
  • Understanding of a range of special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
