Year 6 Learning Support Assistant
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Salary: Competitive rates of pay, dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Bradford area. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils during a crucial stage of their education as they prepare for SATs and transition to secondary school.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Year 6 pupils in English, mathematics and other curriculum subjects.
- Deliver one-to-one and small-group intervention sessions.
- Assist pupils with SATs preparation and revision activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote pupil engagement.
- Support children with additional learning needs where required.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and the wider school team.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experience supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils is desirable.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A patient, caring and proactive attitude.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- An enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.
