Are you a sports graduate with the energy, resilience, and confidence to support a lively Year 3 pupil with additional needs? A primary school in Westerhope is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a child with high SEND and behavioural needs.

This role is perfect for someone who’s active, patient, and thrives on challenge. You’ll need to be calm under pressure, quick to build trust, and ready to get stuck in with creative strategies that keep learning engaging.

The school is welcoming, community-focused with a supportive staff team. They are committed to giving every child the right care, structure, and opportunities to succeed, no matter their starting point.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing 1:1 support to a Year 3 boy with complex SEND and behavioural needs.

  • Using positive behaviour strategies, patience, and consistency to keep him engaged in learning.

  • Bringing energy and enthusiasm, whether that’s supporting in the classroom or using movement and sport to help with regulation.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans.

  • Creating a safe, structured environment where the pupil can feel supported and understood.

About you:

  • Sports graduate (or similar background) with a passion for working with children.

  • Resilient, energetic, and able to stay calm in challenging situations.

  • Patient, proactive, and confident in building relationships.

  • Some experience of SEND or behavioural support is an advantage, but training will be provided.

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).

Why join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella).

  • FREE training including behaviour management, SEND strategies, and Thrive awareness.

  • Local, long-term roles that match your strengths.

  • Ongoing support from experienced consultants.

This is a challenging role, but one where you’ll make a huge difference. If you’ve got the energy, resilience, and passion to take it on, apply today and start your SEND journey with Cheviot Primary.
