Protocol Education are working with a specialist and inclusive school in Newham who are seeking a Permanent Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who is resilient, confident, and committed to supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a positive and structured way.
The role will include:
• Supporting students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Using positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and focus
• Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and access learning
• De-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a safe learning environment
To be successful, you will need:
• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (SEMH desirable)
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, care, or similar settings
