SEND Learning & Pastoral Mentor – Ferryhill (Full-Time)

Protocol Education is seeking a full-time SEND Learning & Pastoral Mentor to support pupils within a specialist school in Ferryhill.

The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

As a mentor, you'll provide much more than classroom support. You'll help pupils overcome barriers, develop positive relationships and recognise their own strengths and achievements.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing consistent 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting pupils' emotional and social wellbeing
  • Developing positive relationships with learners
  • Encouraging confidence and self-esteem
  • Supporting positive behaviour
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
  • Promoting independence and resilience
  • Supporting individual learning and behaviour targets
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
  • Encouraging and celebrating every step of progress
