If you prefer muddy boots to whiteboards, this one’s for you.

A fantastic alternative provision in North Somerset is looking for a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant who loves getting stuck in, staying active, and supporting young people in a hands-on environment. The school uses outdoor learning to help pupils regulate, connect, and re-engage with education, so no two days feel the same.

You don’t need experience to start, just patience, resilience, and a willingness to learn. The team are incredibly supportive, with full training and guidance from day one.

What the role involves

• Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs through movement and practical tasks
• Joining in with forest school-style sessions, outdoor projects, and team-building activities
• Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, and communication
• Helping with regulation strategies, from sensory breaks to calming routines
• Being a steady, reliable adult for pupils who really benefit from consistency
• Working closely with a friendly, nurturing staff team

What they’re looking for

• Someone who enjoys active, outdoor work
• A calm person who can build trust and strong relationships
• Someone happy to embrace a bit of mud, rain, and outdoor chaos
• A patient, steady presence who can support pupils when things feel tricky
• A positive role model with good resilience

This is a brilliant role if you love practical work, enjoy helping young people grow, and are looking for a meaningful way into the world of SEMH education.
