Some children just need the right support at the right time.

That’s where you come in.

We’re working with schools in South Bristol who are looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant. This role is all about bringing consistency, patience, and a calm presence into the classroom, supporting pupils who need a little extra help to feel settled and ready to learn.

If you’re someone who leads with empathy, stays steady under pressure, and believes in every child’s potential, you’ll fit right in here.

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Helping children manage emotions and re-engage with learning
  • Using calm, effective de-escalation strategies
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and recognising every step of progress

This role goes beyond behaviour. It’s about building trust, confidence, and giving pupils the tools they need to succeed.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting children or young people, particularly with SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient, and understanding approach
  • Confidence setting boundaries while building strong relationships
  • Someone reliable, proactive, and team-focused
  • A genuine belief that every child can improve and succeed

Experience with ADHD, ASD, or trauma-informed approaches is a bonus, but not essential.

Why Protocol Education:

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who knows your schools
  • Free CPD, including Thrive training to strengthen your skillset
  • Flexible opportunities across Bristol
  • A team that genuinely cares about your development
  • Weekly pay, £14.30 – £15 per hour

What We Need To Clear You

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two proofs of address
  • A CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained
  • Two years of references, including SEN or childcare where possible
  • An overseas police check if you’ve lived abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years

If you’re ready to be that steady, positive influence in a child’s day, we’d love to hear from you.

Quick one before you apply, are you Thrive trained? If not, we can help you get started, it’s a brilliant way to build confidence and stand out in behaviour support roles.
