SEND Learning Mentor – Ferryhill (Full-Time)

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time SEND Learning Mentor to join a specialist school in Ferryhill. The school provides a supportive and structured environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop confidence, resilience and independence. You'll work closely with pupils and staff to create a positive learning environment where every learner has the opportunity to progress.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing
  • Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Supporting behaviour and engagement throughout the school day
  • Working alongside teachers and wider support staff
  • Helping pupils achieve their individual targets
  • Celebrating progress and encouraging personal development

Who we're looking for

  • Youth Worker
  • Care Worker
  • Psychology or Education Graduate

You should be patient, resilient, approachable and confident when supporting young people with additional needs. Previous SEND experience is desirable, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are equally important.
