Protocol Education is seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants to work in primary schools supporting pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support. The Role

As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, engagement and resilience.
  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, social skills and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to implement behaviour support plans.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches to support pupils during challenging situations.
  • Encourage independence while maintaining a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour throughout the school day, including break and lunchtime where required.

We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs, SEMH, ADHD, Autism or other additional needs.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain positive and professional in a fast-paced school environment.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Previous school experience is desirable but not essential if you have relevant transferable experience.
