Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield S5
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Every school day matters. Could you help make sure every child gets the chance to learn?
A welcoming primary school in Sheffield S5 is looking for a caring, organised and proactive Attendance Officer to join their team full-time.
This is much more than keeping registers up to date. You'll play a key role in helping children get the most out of school by building positive relationships with families, supporting pupils who need encouragement, and working alongside school staff to improve attendance across the school.
If you're someone who enjoys making a real difference behind the scenes, loves building relationships, and can stay calm while juggling a busy workload, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Monitoring daily attendance and following up on pupil absences.
- Contacting parents and carers regarding unexplained absences.
- Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's management information system.
- Working closely with senior leaders to identify attendance concerns and support improvement plans.
- Producing attendance reports and analysing data.
- Liaising with external agencies where appropriate.
- Helping create a positive culture where every school day counts.
We're looking for someone who
- Has previous experience in a school office or attendance role.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and school management systems (such as SIMS or Arbor, although training can be provided).
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Can handle sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding.
- Enjoys working as part of a supportive school team.
What you'll get
- A full-time role in a friendly and welcoming primary school.
- Support from an experienced leadership team.
- The chance to make a genuine impact on children's education and wellbeing.
- A varied role where no two days are quite the same.
