About the Role
We’re recruiting an Autism Support Assistant for a Sunderland primary school with a well-established nurture provision. You’ll be joining a supportive team focused on communication, sensory understanding, and calm, predictable routines.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting autistic pupils with communication and sensory needs
- Preparing visual supports and using structured teaching methods
- Creating low-pressure learning environments that help pupils thrive
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and parents
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting autistic pupils or children with additional needs
- Patience, empathy and a steady, reassuring approach
- Willingness to learn and follow structured strategies
- Strong collaboration skills
