SEND Teaching Assistant Roles (BS4 & BS16)

We are currently recruiting dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants for specialized SEND schools across the BS4 and BS16 areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for educators seeking full-time, permanent work, transitioning to a permanent contract with the school after an initial 12-week period.

Key Requirements & Eligibility

To be considered for these roles, candidates must meet the following mandatory criteria:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of SEND experience working with children and young people.

  • Right to Work: More than 1 year's right to work in the UK.

  • Availability: Seeking full-time, permanent work (the school cannot accept part-time applications).

Understanding Student Needs

These settings cater to students with complex special needs and PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) spanning all age groups from 3 to 18 years. Educators must be comfortable supporting students with a wide range of intensive care and developmental needs, including:

  • Physical & Medical Support: Working with students who use wheelchairs, require mechanical hoists, and need PEG feeding assistance.

  • Communication: Supporting children who are non-verbal using alternative communication approaches.

  • Behavioral Support: Managing and positively responding to challenging behaviors in a calm, patient, and supportive manner.

Role Expectations

  • Comprehensive Support: Assist pupils with personal care, medical needs, and daily mobility requirements safely and professionally.

  • Holistic Development: Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction tailored to each child's individual learning plan.

  • Inclusive Environment: Contribute to a safe, positive, and nurturing atmosphere across all age groups (3–18 years).

Important Note for Applicants: Due to the complex nature of the provision, educators must be fully comfortable and experienced with personal care, medical equipment (hoists, PEG feeding), and profound physical and learning disabilities.
