This is a role for someone who understands that the right support can completely change a young person’s experience of school.
We’re working with a specialist SEN setting in South Shields supporting pupils across primary and secondary age ranges, with needs including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH).
The role:
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support in line with EHCP outcomes
- Adapt learning materials to suit individual needs and learning styles
- Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and therapists
What sets this role apart:
- You’ll have real input into how support is delivered, not just follow instructions
- You’ll build consistent relationships with students who rely on routine and trust
- You’ll see genuine progress, even in the smallest steps
We’re looking for:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong SEN experience, ideally within ASC or SEMH settings
- Confidence supporting both academic and behavioural needs
- A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach
What’s on offer:
- September start with long-term stability
- Opportunity to become a permanent member of staff
- A supportive, specialist team environment
