SEN Learning Support Assistant – Gateshead

Protocol Education is recruiting passionate SEN Learning Support Assistants to support pupils within a specialist secondary SEND school in Gateshead from September.
The school provides a supportive environment for young people with a range of learning, communication, behavioural and developmental needs. You'll work closely with teachers and other professionals to help pupils make progress academically, socially and personally.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting learning in the classroom
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Helping pupils understand and complete activities
- Supporting communication and interaction
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Helping pupils manage emotions and behaviour
- Supporting sensory needs and regulation
- Developing positive relationships with pupils
- Contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment
We're looking for
- Previous experience supporting young people is desirable
- A caring and patient personality
- Someone who is calm under pressure
- A strong interest in SEND and inclusive education
- Someone who can build positive relationships
- A reliable and proactive team player
- A DBS or willingness to apply
