SEN Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

We're recruiting enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary SEND school in Gateshead from September.
You'll support young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism, learning difficulties, communication needs and complex SEND. Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you'll help pupils access learning, develop life skills and become more independent.
What you'll be doing
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils access the secondary curriculum
- Supporting communication and social development
- Encouraging independence and life skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Helping pupils engage with practical and sensory activities
- Working closely with teachers and specialist staff
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
We're looking for someone who
- Has experience working with children or young people
- Is patient, compassionate and resilient
- Has a genuine interest in SEND
- Can remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
- Is confident working as part of a wider team
- Holds a DBS or is willing to apply for one
