Psychology Graduate looking for valuable experience with children?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Gateshead is looking for a Psychology Graduate to join its support team as a Learning Support Assistant this September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, Mental Health, Counselling or Teaching.
The school has a strong focus on children's wellbeing, inclusion and individual development. You'll work alongside teachers and the SENCO, gaining genuine experience of supporting children's behaviour, emotional wellbeing, development and learning.
About the Role
You will:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
- Support children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs.
- Help pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills.
- Encourage confidence, independence and resilience.
- Support children experiencing barriers to learning.
- Assist with targeted learning and behavioural interventions.
- Observe pupil behaviour and engagement and share feedback with staff.
- Build positive relationships with pupils.
- Support a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment.

We're Looking For
- Psychology degree or related qualification.
- Genuine interest in working with children.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
- Strong communication skills.
- Previous experience with children is desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
