SEN Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

Protocol Education is looking for caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist secondary SEND setting in Gateshead from September.

This is an opportunity to support pupils who may have Autism, SEMH, learning difficulties, speech and language needs and complex SEND. You'll play an important role in helping young people feel safe, confident and ready to learn.

Your role

  • Supporting pupils in lessons and across the school day
  • Delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • Helping pupils develop communication skills
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Encouraging independence and self-confidence
  • Assisting with practical and vocational learning
  • Supporting pupils with their individual learning goals
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff

The ideal candidate

  • Has previous experience with children or young people
  • Understands the importance of patience and consistency
  • Is confident supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Has a positive and nurturing approach
  • Is resilient and able to manage challenging situations
  • Is passionate about helping young people succeed
