We’re working with a range of welcoming mainstream primary schools across Lewisham, including dedicated SEN units, who are looking for brilliant support staff to join their teams. These are schools that value what you do, and pupils who really benefit from it.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups, both in class and in SEN units
- Helping children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs
- Creating a calm, structured environment where pupils feel safe and ready to learn
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff
- Celebrating the small wins, because they’re often the biggest
What the role feels like:
Some days you’ll be the steady presence that helps a child settle. Other days, you’ll be the reason they join in, speak up, or simply have a good day at school.
It’s not always easy, but it’s always meaningful.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally with SEND
- A calm, patient, and positive approach
- Someone who can build trust and strong relationships
- A team player who’s happy to get stuck in
- Relevant qualifications are great, but your attitude matters just as much
