About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sheffield. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop independence and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assist pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
  • Support children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and other learning needs.
  • Help implement individual learning and support plans.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adapt activities and learning resources to meet individual needs.
  • Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and life skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
  • Monitor and report on pupils' progress and development.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.

About You

  • A strong communicator and positive team player.
  • Calm, reliable and able to respond appropriately to challenging situations.
  • Able to build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential. Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN qualification or equivalent experience are advantageous.
