Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – PMLD School – Loughton | Immediate Start
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with the most complex additional needs?
We are working with a specialist PMLD school in Loughton that is looking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.
This is a highly rewarding role supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The students have a combination of severe learning disabilities alongside complex physical, medical, sensory, and communication needs. Many pupils are non-verbal or have limited verbal communication and may use PECS, Makaton, sensory cues, or specialist communication devices to express their wants and needs.
The role involves providing consistent support throughout the school day, helping pupils access learning activities that are tailored to their individual abilities and developmental goals. You may also support students with personal care, mobility, feeding, sensory regulation, and medical needs, working closely with teachers, therapists, nurses, and other specialist staff.
The school offers a nurturing and highly supportive environment where every achievement is celebrated. Learning is personalised to each pupil, with a strong focus on communication, life skills, sensory development, independence, and wellbeing.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children or adults with SEND, complex needs, or care backgrounds
- Be patient, caring, and empathetic
- Feel comfortable supporting pupils with personal care requirements
- Be confident working with students who have physical disabilities and additional medical needs
- Have a genuine passion for helping vulnerable young people achieve their potential
- Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
This is an incredible opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with some of the most complex needs, helping them develop key communication, independence, and life skills in a safe and supportive setting.
If you're looking for a rewarding role where every day has a positive impact, we'd love to hear from you.
