Autism Support Assistant – Specialist SEND School – Grays | Immediate Start

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in education?

We are working with a fantastic specialist SEND school in Grays that is looking to appoint a caring and dedicated Autism Support Assistant to join their team immediately.

The school supports pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), with many students also having a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Students benefit from a highly structured and supportive environment where communication, independence, social development, and emotional wellbeing are at the heart of daily learning.

As an Autism Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to help pupils access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and build confidence both academically and socially. You may provide support on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, using strategies tailored to each student's individual learning needs.

The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to develop their independence while receiving the support they need to succeed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Have an understanding of Autism and communication difficulties
  • Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Be confident supporting pupils with learning difficulties and additional needs
  • Have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive specialist setting and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people every day.

If you're looking for a role where you can positively impact students' education, confidence, and independence, we'd love to hear from you.
