Our partner schools across Bristol are looking for confident and compassionate educators with experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for educators who enjoy building strong relationships with students and helping them stay engaged in their learning, even when challenges arise. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for graduates, youth workers, support staff, or aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

The Role:

You’ll be supporting classes, ensuring learning in a calm and structured environment. Your presence will help students stay focused, regulated, and supported throughout the lesson.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students to stay engaged and complete tasks

  • Managing behaviour with patience, consistency, and understanding

  • Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage participation

  • De-escalating challenging situations using calm and effective strategies

  • Maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment

  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times

  • Reporting any concerns through the school’s safeguarding systems

About You

We’re looking for someone who understands that connection comes before correction and who enjoys making a genuine difference in young people’s lives.

You might have experience in:

  • SEMH settings

  • Behaviour support roles

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Care or support work with young people

  • Alternative provision or PRU environments

What We Need to Get You Started:

  • Right to work in the UK, such as a passport or share code

  • Two proofs of address, for example a driving licence, utility bill, or council tax letter

  • A CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any gaps explained

  • Two years of references, including relevant work with children or young people

  • Overseas Police Check if you’ve lived abroad for three months or more in the last five years
