A welcoming primary school in Kenton, Newcastle, is looking for a resilient, caring Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children with high levels of need in a nurturing EYFS setting. This is a role for someone who stays calm under pressure, builds trust quickly, and knows that progress doesn’t always look the same for every child.
What your days will look like

Supporting children in Early Years with complex needs, both 1:1 and in small groups

Helping children feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn

Using consistency, kindness, and clear boundaries to support behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to adapt learning and routines

Celebrating the small wins, because they matter more than you think
We’re looking for someone who

Has experience supporting children with high needs, SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviour

Is resilient, patient, and able to keep a steady head on tricky days
-
Understands Early Years practice and child development

Brings warmth, empathy, and a genuine love for helping young children thrive

Can be a reliable, positive presence in the classroom, even when things feel tough
