A specialist SEN school in Sunderland is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition, communication needs and sensory sensitivities.
The school places a strong emphasis on structured learning, communication development and emotional regulation, creating a safe and predictable environment for pupils.
Location: Sunderland
Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Daily Routine
• 8:30am staff start
• Structured lessons with small class sizes
• Sensory breaks and communication sessions
• Supervised social times
• 4:30pm finish with debrief and planning
The Role
• Supporting pupils during lessons
• Encouraging engagement and focus
• Supporting communication strategies
• Assisting with emotional regulation
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff
Experience Requirements
Desirable but not essential:
• Experience working with children or SEN
• Care or support background
• Interest in autism and communication needs
