Protocol Education is working in partnership with a specialist setting in South Shields, supporting students with a range of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, and additional learning difficulties. We are looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Worker to join their dedicated and nurturing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting individual pupils and small groups to stay engaged and make progress

  • Helping to manage and de-escalate incidents of challenging behaviour

  • Promoting emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and positive choices

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students based on consistency and respect

  • Working alongside teachers and therapists to deliver tailored interventions

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school, care or community setting

  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding practices

  • Resilient, proactive and committed to inclusive education

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills

  • Training in de-escalation or behaviour support (e.g. Team Teach) is beneficial
