A brilliant specialist school in Gateshead is looking for a 1:1 Autism Support Assistant to work closely with a pupil who needs consistency, patience, and someone who truly understands how to support communication and sensory needs.

What the role looks like

  • Supporting a pupil with autism on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day

  • Helping them understand routines, transitions, and expectations

  • Using visual aids, sensory strategies, and clear communication

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and therapists

  • Creating a predictable, reassuring environment where the pupil can thrive
