Autism Support Worker (Part-Time, Full Time, Permanent)
About the Role
Protocol Education are working a forward-thinking specialist setting in Wiltshire and are looking for a caring and confident Autism Support Worker.
You’ll work closely with teachers to deliver a personalised, autism friendly curriculum that supports both academic learning and essential life skills. Every pupil has an EHCP, and you’ll play a key role in helping them thrive in the classroom, at home, and in the wider community.

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting learners with autism to develop communication, social and life skills

Using structured approaches such as TEACCH and personalised anxiety management strategies - Training on these can be provided

Promoting inclusion and engagement across lessons and activities

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families

Encouraging progress and confidence through empathy, patience, and positivity
What We’re Looking For

A solid understanding of autism and social communication needs

Awareness of social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs

Excellent listening skills and a genuine passion for supporting young people

Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to take initiative in the classroom

A calm, caring presence that helps pupils feel safe and understood
