We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistants to work within secondary schools and specialist provisions across Huddersfield. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact on students' educational and personal development.

The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support to manage their behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing. You will play a key role in helping students develop positive relationships, improve classroom participation, and achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group behavioural support
  • Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Assisting with conflict resolution and emotional regulation
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and safeguarding staff
  • Encouraging attendance, engagement, and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

✅ Strong behaviour management and communication skills
✅ A calm, patient, and resilient approach
✅ The ability to build positive relationships with young people
✅ Experience working with children or young people with behavioural or additional needs (desirable)
✅ A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
✅ The ability to remain professional in challenging situations
