Classroom Support

Looking for a role where you genuinely change someone’s day?

We’re working with specialist SEN schools across Wiltshire who are looking for compassionate, steady and proactive Learning Support Assistants to join their teams.

These settings support pupils with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH and complex learning needs, along with supporting the class teacher in general delivery of the class work. The work is hands-on, sometimes challenging, always meaningful.

You won’t just be “extra support” in the room. You’ll be the calm voice, the safe space, the person who helps a pupil regulate, refocus and access their learning.

Location: Across Swindon

Working Hours: 08.30 - 3.30

Employment Type: Schools would prefer long term applicants but welcome part time.

With many of these positions, schools look to move people onto permanent contracts.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists

  • Helping create structured, safe and engaging learning environments

  • Encouraging independence and confidence every step of the way

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, in schools, care, youth work or similar

  • Stays calm under pressure

  • Builds trust naturally

  • Brings patience, resilience and a sense of humour

Team Teach or de-escalation training is a bonus, but not essential. We’ll support you with ongoing development.

If you’re Thrive trained, even better. If not, ask us about our free Thrive training, it’s a brilliant way to strengthen your toolkit and increase your appeal to schools.

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies

  • Free access to our online CPD Academy

  • Dedicated consultant support from someone who gets SEN

  • Opportunities in specialist and alternative provisions

  • Streamlined registration and local placements
