A Pupil Referral Unit in Ferryhill is seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs from September.
The pupils within this setting can display highly challenging behaviours including verbal aggression, disruption, refusal to engage, and difficulties with emotional regulation. Staff who succeed in this environment are calm under pressure, consistent in their approach, and committed to making a positive difference.
Key Duties
- Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
- De-escalating challenging situations effectively
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement
- Supporting learning within the classroom
- Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff
- Developing positive relationships with pupils
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Previous behaviour support or SEMH experience
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Resilient, patient, and adaptable nature
- Excellent interpersonal skills
