We’re seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEND Support Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Sunderland. About the Role

  • Location: Sunderland
  • Position: SEND Support Assistant (through Protocol Education)
  • Schedule: Full-time, mornings and afternoons  8.30-3.30
  • Contract: Long-term, until the end of the school year

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Morning: Provide tailored support to a small group of six KS2 pupils (Years 5 & 6) with SEND related to their learning needs. You'll collaborate closely with the class teacher, who will handle planning, to deliver one-to-one and group interventions that help these children reach their potential.
  • Afternoon: Offer general classroom support in Years 2 and 3, assisting with a range of activities and ensuring a smooth learning experience for all pupils.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children, especially those with SEND, is desirable but not essential. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are key.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children with learning needs.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff.
  • A passion for helping children achieve their best in a supportive and inclusive environment.
