Are you someone who loves helping children find their confidence with reading and learning?
A welcoming and community-focused primary academy in North Bristol is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is a school where children are encouraged to be curious, resilient, and proud of what they achieve, and where staff work together to make every child feel valued and supported.
The academy is part of a wider education trust that believes every child deserves the chance to thrive, regardless of their background. There’s a strong emphasis on inclusion, high expectations, and building a genuine love of learning, alongside a culture where staff support each other and celebrate progress together.
The role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help pupils get the most out of their learning. You’ll provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, helping children build their confidence and develop the skills they need to succeed in the classroom.
A key focus of the role will be supporting the school’s phonics and early reading provision, helping pupils develop strong foundations in literacy.
Your day-to-day might include:
-
Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups during lessons
-
Helping children develop confidence with phonics and reading
-
Encouraging positive learning behaviours and independence
-
Working closely with teachers to adapt activities and support learning
-
Helping create a classroom environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
What the school is looking for
The school is looking for someone who is:
-
Warm, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children
-
Flexible and adaptable in a busy classroom environment
-
Knowledgeable about child development and early learning
-
Confident supporting phonics and early reading
-
Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Experience working with children in a mainstream or specialist school setting would be beneficial.
Why join this school?
-
A supportive and experienced staff team who genuinely look out for one another
-
A school community built on inclusion, respect, and opportunity for every child
-
The chance to make a real difference to pupils at a key stage in their learning
-
Opportunities to develop your skills and experience within a collaborative academy trust
If you enjoy seeing those “lightbulb moments” when a child suddenly gets it, this role could be a brilliant fit.
