Protocol Education are currently working with a specialist SEND provision in the Consett Area that supports pupils aged 2–19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school caters for pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities, sensory needs and complex medical requirements.

The setting provides a highly supportive learning environment with small class sizes, sensory rooms, specialist equipment and a strong focus on personalised learning. Staff work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure pupils receive the care and support they require throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils with sensory and interactive learning activities
• Assisting with mobility and the use of specialist equipment
• Supporting pupils with communication using symbols, communication aids or signing
• Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required
• Encouraging pupils to engage with learning through sensory exploration and structured activities

The school is seeking candidates who are compassionate, patient and dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex needs. Experience working with SEND, healthcare, care work or support work would be highly beneficial.

Applicants should ideally hold a valid DBS registered on the Update Service. If you do not currently have one, you will be required to apply for a DBS through Protocol Education as part of the compliance process.
