Higher Learning Teaching Assistant | BS31

Location: Bristol
Job Type: Temporary
Reference: 311022276
Salary: £89 - £94/day + PAYE & £50 for Teacher Referral
Job Published: 20 March 2026

Protocol Education works with friendly, supportive primary schools in BS31, and we’re looking for confident, experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants who love being right at the heart of school life.

These roles are perfect for HLTAs who enjoy building relationships, stepping in to support learning and helping children feel safe, confident and proud of their progress, whether that’s with phonics, times tables or just having a great day at school.

We place HLTAs into both short- and long-term roles, carefully matching you with schools that suit your experience, strengths and availability.

The role
You’ll be supporting children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, working one-to-one, in small groups and sometimes leading the class when the teacher is away.

Your days will be varied and rewarding, helping to plan and deliver fun, engaging lessons, adapting learning to suit different needs and offering calm, reassuring support to children who need a little extra encouragement.

You’ll be joining primary schools with warm, inclusive cultures where teamwork matters, staff feel supported and children are always the priority.

If you enjoy being a familiar, trusted face in the classroom and love seeing children grow in confidence because of your support, this could be a really lovely fit.

Why choose Protocol Education?
• Flexible work, choose when and where you work
• Paid per day, with weekly pay
• Local primary schools, no long commutes
• Dedicated consultants who understand HLTA roles
• Opportunities to develop and progress within primary education
• Easy-to-use booking system
• £250 PAYE referral bonus when you recommend a friend
