A welcoming primary school just outside Bristol city centre is looking for a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who needs a little extra guidance to thrive in the classroom.
This is a school with a real community feel. Staff work closely together, pupils are encouraged to be curious and confident, and every child is supported to reach their potential. The team believes learning should be engaging, inclusive, and built on strong relationships, and that’s where you come in.
Your role in the classroom
You’ll be working closely with one pupil, helping them feel supported, settled, and ready to learn.
Your day might include:
• Providing 1:1 support so the pupil can access lessons confidently
• Helping deliver personalised learning activities set by the teacher
• Encouraging positive routines, independence, and confidence
• Working alongside teachers and support staff to adapt learning where needed
• Creating a calm, encouraging environment where the pupil feels safe to succeed
What the school is looking for
The school is keen to meet people who genuinely enjoy supporting children and building positive relationships.
You’ll likely bring:
• Experience working with children, ideally with SEND support
• A calm, patient approach and strong communication skills
• The ability to encourage, motivate, and build trust
• A team-focused attitude and willingness to learn
Relevant education or SEND qualifications are helpful, but not essential. What matters most is your attitude and commitment to helping pupils succeed.
What you’ll get in return
• £13.75 per hour minimum, paid weekly through PAYE
• Access to free CPD and training opportunities
• Support from a friendly team who understand schools
• The chance to be part of a school that values its support staff
Support staff are often the calm voice, the steady presence, and the person who helps a pupil turn a tricky day into a good one. If that sounds like you, this could be a brilliant role.
