SEMH Teaching Assistant

Looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference?

We’re working with schools in Bristol who are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils who sometimes struggle with their emotions, behaviour, or confidence in the classroom.

Some children need more than classroom support. They need someone who can see beyond the behaviour, build trust and be a positive influence to help them stay focused and succeed at school.

If you're calm under pressure, patient when things get tough, and genuinely passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, we'd love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and around the school
  • Building positive relationships that help children feel safe, valued and ready to learn
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to help every pupil succeed
  • Celebrating the small wins, because they often become the biggest breakthroughs

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (school or alternative settings)
  • Calm and patience, even in high-pressure situations
  • Aility to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people

Why work with Protocol Education?

  • Competitive weekly PAYE pay.
  • Full-time role with a September start.
  • Opportunities in Primary, Secondary, and SEND schools across Bristol.
  • Free CPD and specialist training.
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions.
