Are you passionate about helping children prepare for the next big step in their education? We are seeking a caring and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a critical year of a child’s primary education, in a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated, one-to-one support to a specific student in Year 6 throughout the school day.

Work closely with the classroom teacher to plan and deliver tailored learning activities and interventions.

Promote the student's academic progress, social confidence, and emotional wellbeing as they prepare for secondary school.

Create a supportive and engaging environment that encourages independence and resilience.

Adapt resources and teaching methods to align with the student's individual learning style and needs.

Monitor and assess the student’s development, offering regular feedback to the teacher and parents.

Build a positive relationship with the student and maintain clear communication with staff and family members.

Ensure all work supports the school's policies, safeguarding measures, and ethos.
What We’re Looking For

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).

Experience working 1:1 with children.

A strong understanding of the unique challenges and needs of Year 6 pupils.

Empathy, patience, and a calm, reliable presence in the classroom.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

Adaptability and initiative to adjust your approach based on the student’s changing needs.

Familiarity with effective support strategies and learning resources for individual students.

Additional qualifications in education, child development, or SEND (desirable but not essential).
