Salary: £85–£95 per day (Based on Market Standards) / Pay to scale (dependent on experience)
About the Role:
We are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN/SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist and inclusive primary school in the Harrow area. The school caters to students aged 3 to 11 with a wide range of special educational needs, including physical disabilities and additional learning and communication needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic, social, and personal development, providing 1:1 or small group support and assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support, particularly for students with complex physical and additional needs
- Assist with mobility, personal care, and use of specialised techniques, with training provided if required
- Support students in accessing a broad, balanced curriculum and help them achieve their learning goals
- Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
- Support students during break and lunch times
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to meet EHCP outcomes
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote their independence and wellbeing
- Follow safeguarding protocols and prioritise student safety
Person Specification:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN or in school settings is preferred
- Calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour management and student support
- Confidence or willingness to assist with personal care or medical routines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through us
