Protocol Education is working with a primary school in Downend that is looking to appoint a Behaviour Mentor to support pupils who require additional help with engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
The role involves working closely with children on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.
Experience supporting children with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs is desirable. However, we also welcome applicants with experience in youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, residential support, or similar roles working with children and young people.
Key responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional needs
- Working on a one-to-one and small group basis
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement with learning
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
- Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent role model
- Working alongside teachers, SEND staff, and senior leaders to support pupil progress
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working with children or young people
- Be calm, patient, and resilient
- Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive way
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Have experience with SEMH, behaviour support, or SEND needs, although this is not essential
