Design & Technology Teacher (Engineering Specialist) — Full Time, January Start

Salary: Paid to scale (MPS/UPS, depending on experience)

A large secondary school on the outskirts of Bristol is looking for a full-time Design & Technology teacher with a strong Engineering background to join their department from January. About the role
The school is specifically looking for someone confident teaching Engineering within the DT curriculum, including:

Engineering principles and technical processes

Design briefs, iterative design and practical problem-solving
-
Safe use of workshop tools, machinery and materials
-
CAD/CAM, prototyping, technical drawings or similar areas
-
Practical project-based work across KS3 and KS4
You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering lessons, supporting students through practical and theory-based learning, and contributing to assessment, marking and departmental planning. The DT department is well resourced, with workshop spaces, specialist equipment and access to digital design tools to support high-quality engineering teaching.

Who they’re looking for
The ideal candidate will:

Hold UK QTS with a specialism in Engineering, Product Design, Resistant Materials, Systems & Control or a closely related field

Have experience teaching Engineering content within the Design & Technology curriculum

Be confident delivering practical, technical lessons with clear routines and strong safety practice

Have good organisational skills and a consistent approach to planning, assessment and feedback

Work well within a team and contribute positively to departmental development
