We’re recruiting Qualified Teaching Assistants for specialist schools in South Shields supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
The role
You’ll support pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, trust, and engagement in education. Your consistency, empathy, and ability to build rapport will be key to helping pupils succeed.
Many schools use supply staff as a pathway to permanent recruitment, making this an excellent opportunity for career progression.
What you’ll be doing
Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
Using restorative and positive behaviour approaches
Building trusted relationships with pupils
Supporting learning and emotional regulation
Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams
What we’re looking for
TA qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
Experience supporting behaviour or SEMH
Strong emotional resilience
Excellent communication skills
A patient and non-judgemental approach
