1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant in SEMH Provision, with experience in managing challenging behaviour
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £89.47 - £100 Per day
Job Duties:
- Provide 1:1 support to a student with Special Educational Needs and Social emotional mental health needs in a specialist provision.
- Implement individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies
- Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively and de-escalate situations when necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the holistic development of students
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
- Knowledge of SEND Code of Practise and safeguarding procedures
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
- Understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to challenging situations
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily within a school setting, 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday-Friday
- Full-time hours with occasional flexibility required
- Regular interaction with students, teachers, and other educational professionals
