Job Published: 18 August 2026

Protocol Education is working with a welcoming Primary School in Keynsham (BS31) looking for a caring, enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September.

If you've ever celebrated a child's first fluent sentence, helped someone crack phonics after weeks of perseverance, or proudly displayed a masterpiece made from glue sticks and glitter, this could be the perfect role for you.

Key Stage 1 is a magical part of a child's educational journey. Every day brings new milestones, whether that's learning to read independently, mastering number bonds, building friendships or growing in confidence. As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a huge part in helping pupils take those important early steps.

The school is looking for someone who can bring energy, patience and positivity to the classroom, helping children feel safe, supported and excited to learn each day.

The Role

You'll be supporting pupils primarily across Key Stage 1, helping them engage with learning through a range of exciting classroom activities and interventions.

Your day could include:

  • Supporting phonics sessions and early reading development
  • Helping children practise handwriting, spelling and number skills
  • Working 1:1 with pupils who need additional support
  • Leading small group interventions focused on literacy and numeracy
  • Supporting creative activities, role play, art projects and outdoor learning
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and social development during lessons and playtimes
  • Helping children build confidence, resilience and independence
  • Working closely with teachers to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment

No two days are ever the same, and that's exactly what makes KS1 so rewarding.

Why Choose Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay
