SEMH Student Development Assistant

Location: Shropshire
Job Type: Contract

Salary: £89 - £95/day
Job Published: 19 March 2026

We are working with a small, specialist trauma-informed provision supporting students aged 11 to 18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many students have experienced significant trauma, including exploitation, and some are currently in care.

This is a nurturing, secure setting where relationships come first. Small class sizes, high staff ratios and a personalised curriculum allow each student to follow a bespoke pathway aligned to her ability, interests and aspirations.

The school’s values of Growth, Resilience, Belonging and Ownership are embedded in daily practice. Students are supported to rebuild self-worth, develop confidence and strengthen social skills in a calm, structured environment. On-site animals form part of the therapeutic offer, supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Student Development Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Use trauma-informed approaches to support regulation
  • Promote positive relationships and healthy boundaries
  • Work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in SEMH, SEND, residential care or alternative provision
  • Understands trauma-informed practice
  • Is calm, consistent and professionally boundaried
  • Has strong safeguarding awareness

We Offer

  • Weekly pay through PAYE – no umbrella company deductions.
  • Free CPD training, including access to our Thrive training to strengthen skills in supporting emotional wellbeing.
  • Personalised support from a dedicated consultant.
  • Opportunities to progress into teaching, educational psychology, or long-term SEND support roles.

This is a specialist role requiring resilience, empathy and professionalism. In return, you will join a dedicated team committed to helping young women move forward with confidence and purpose.
