Protocol Education is working with a number of welcoming specialist schools and mainstream schools with dedicated SEND provisions across Sunderland to recruit caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants for full-time roles starting this September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), SEMH and other additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their individual goals.
Role Details
- Full-time
- September 2026 start
- Monday-Friday
- Working hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
- Term-time only
- Long-term role with the opportunity to become permanent
Your responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with personalised learning programmes
- Promoting communication, independence and social development
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and SENCOs
- Recording pupil progress and celebrating achievements
We're looking for someone who
- Has experience working with children or vulnerable adults
- Is patient, caring and resilient
- Has excellent communication skills
- Can build positive relationships quickly
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
