SEN Teaching Assistant – Make a Real Difference
Protocol Education is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in schools and specialist provisions across Sheffield.
This rewarding role involves working closely with pupils who may have Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), speech and language difficulties, or other additional learning needs. You will play a vital role in helping students access education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Whether you have previous SEN experience or a background in care, support work, youth work, psychology, or education, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Supporting students both academically and emotionally throughout the school day.
- Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting engagement in learning.
- Supporting students with communication, social interaction, and independence skills.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, support work, or psychology are advantageous.

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
