We’re working with a friendly primary school in Downend (BS16) that’s on the lookout for a caring, committed Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs. It’s a small group setting, plenty of opportunity to build strong relationships, and a team that genuinely values the support staff around them.
What your mornings will look like:
- Working Monday to Friday, 8:30am–12:30pm (a bit of flexibility if needed)
- Supporting a small group of pupils with a range of additional needs
- Creating a calm, positive space where children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn
- Working closely with the class teacher and wider support team
The role:
- Term-time only, with continuity through to the end of the academic year
- A chance to be that steady, supportive presence pupils rely on
- Ideal if you enjoy meaningful work but want your afternoons free
What we’re looking for:
- Experience working with children, ideally in a primary setting
- A patient, kind approach, someone who really “gets” how to support children with additional needs
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
- Relevant qualifications are great, but not essential, your attitude matters more
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
If you’re the kind of person who notices the small wins, celebrates progress, and brings a bit of calm to the classroom, this could be a lovely fit.
