Ready to be the person who helps a child have their best day at school?
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school this September.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive in the classroom and beyond. Whether your experience comes from education, care, youth work, or another support-based setting, if you've spent at least one year working with individuals with SEND or in a care environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
- Providing one-to-one and small group support throughout the school day
- Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive relationships
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams
- Creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 1 year's experience working in care, SEND, education, youth work, or a similar support role
- A patient, positive, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy school environment
What the school offers
- A permanent position from September
- Ongoing training and career development opportunities
- A supportive leadership team that values support staff
- A collaborative and welcoming school community
- The chance to make a lasting difference every day
Extra training opportunities
Are you Thrive trained?
If not, don't worry. Protocol Education offers FREE Thrive training, helping you develop valuable skills that schools are actively looking for when supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Why this role?
You're not "just" support staff. You're the calm voice, the confidence builder, the trusted adult who helps children overcome challenges and achieve things they never thought possible.
If that sounds like the kind of impact you'd like to make, we'd love to hear from you.
