Some pupils just need the right person beside them to help them succeed.

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in BS11 is looking for an experienced Learning Partner to support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time role for someone who understands that learning looks different for every child and knows how to offer the right balance of support, patience, and encouragement.

The school has a strong community feel and is passionate about creating an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and able to thrive. Staff work closely together to build positive relationships with pupils, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.

This role is ideal for someone who has experience supporting children with additional needs and who enjoys helping pupils overcome challenges, both in and out of the classroom.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs

  • Helping pupils stay engaged with learning and classroom routines

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider support team

  • Creating a safe, supportive learning environment where pupils can grow in confidence

What the school is looking for

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Partner, or similar support role

  • Confidence supporting pupils with SEN or SEMH needs

  • A calm, consistent, and patient approach

  • Strong relationship-building skills with pupils and staff

  • A genuine passion for supporting children who need extra encouragement

The school is located in a harder-to-reach area, so drivers are strongly preferred.

What you’ll gain

The school is committed to developing its support staff. You’ll have access to free Thrive training, alongside additional CPD opportunities to help you build your skills in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour.

The role

  • Full-time position

  • Immediate start or after Easter

  • Mainstream primary school setting

  • Free Thrive training and ongoing CPD available

  • Drivers preferred due to location

The right Learning Partner can completely change a child’s experience of school. With the right support, confidence grows, barriers shrink, and learning becomes possible again.

If you’re an experienced support professional who wants to make a real difference every day, this could be a brilliant next step.
